Melanotan-2
Melanotan-2 is a cyclic heptapeptide analogue of α-MSH that engages multiple melanocortin receptors (MC1, MC3, MC4, MC5), unlike the more MC1-selective Melanotan-1. Research applications have examined its effects on melanogenesis as well as on the central melanocortin system, where MC4R activation is linked in animal models to satiety and sexual function pathways. It shares mechanistic overlap with PT-141 (bremelanotide), which is derived from the Melanotan-2 backbone.
